Treasure Mountain is a photographic essay on labourers from Nepal and the state of Bihar, India. They travel into the Indian Himalayan region every summer, as there is a shortage of manual labour in the region, to work on new buildings, roads, and crop harvests. The majority of local young people have moved to study elsewhere in India or abroad. The cheap migrants fill the gaps and are the backbone of almost every new infrastructure project and some crop harvests. Without them things would be very different.
